About The Owner

My Story

My name is Kiko Garcia. I started cutting my own hair about 26 years ago. Like any other kid, I was just trying to save a buck from going to the barbershop. Every now and then I would cut my brother’s hair or someone in the family. It wouldn’t be that great but I did my best with what I had. Clippers from Walgreens was all it was. With me, you didn’t get no trim off the top with shears or beard work. You had clippers on the side and on the top. It wasn’t until I joined the navy back in 2001 that I started getting a little better with the clippers. Friends found out that I cut my own hair so they would always ask me to hook them up. For $5.00 I don’t think they cared if it was perfect, as long as the ships barber didn’t do it. I made some money, a lot. The first one was always free and if they liked it, they could come back….they always came back. After I finished my service in the military, I worked many jobs. From management positions, deliveries, electrical, industrial, Lyft and Uber, pretty much whatever was offered I took it and tried to excel in that position.

It wasn't until 2021 when I just felt like I needed to do something on my own for myself. My wife (girlfriend at the time) told me once, “why don’t you be a barber? You cut your own hair already” That played in my head repeatedly till I decided to go to the barber school and enroll. I was going to school and working pretty much 7 days a week no off days till I got offered to work at a real barber shop. So, I quit my part time delivery job and went to work for the barbershop 5 days a week and continued the barber college 2 days a week for 12 hours each day just to maintain my hours I needed to complete the schooling. 4 months after getting hired at the shop, as well with all the support from my girlfriend, now my wife, I’m licensed. Fast forward to today, I’m the proud owner of The Edge, sponsor of a little league baseball team and personal barber to several professional baseball players. I've never been happier, never felt more blessed than I am today and never been more grateful to have the love and support of a woman who always pushed me forward, never let me give up and encouraged me do more. To my wife, thank you and I love you.
